• First started bowling at age 16 after a High School field trip to Northgate Bowling Lanes (1969c.).

• Dan became involved as a volunteer in the Bowling Community, becoming the League secretary of the Northgate Wednesday Night league in 1975, for about 3 years.

• Dan began competitive bowling in 1981after being introduced to it by Michael Boroskae & Sid Allen; he immediately joined two city scratch leagues and has never looked back, continuing to compete at a very high level ever since.

• From 1985-present, Dan has been League Secretary for the Winnipeg Senior Men league and then also became League Secretary for the Greater Winnipeg Classic League from 1992-94 & then 1996-present.

• In 1987, qualified for Manitoba in the World Cup.

• First Winnipeg bowler to qualify for TSN Pins Game (1987c.).

• Won the Marinelli City Championship twice – in 1988 and 1993.

• Dan’s first perfect 300 game of six was in 1995, second in 2000, third in 2001 & the other three in 2010 at age 59.

• Won Manitoba Open Jan/2002 – third Manitoba to win tournament in the 22 year history.
During his career he has won four MCBA tournaments and several other local tournaments.

Tournament of the Americas

o 2003 – Qualified to represent Canada on the Senior Team. Won silver medals in both the Team event and National All-Events.
o 2007 – Represented Canada again on the Senior Team. Dan earned gold medals in both the Senior Men’s Singles and Doubles, a silver medal in both the Team and Individual All-Events and bronze in Senior National Team All-Events
o 2009 – Represented Canada on the Adult Team, (qualified 5th in 2008 CNC).

Dan was voted CTF’s 2007 Adult Male Bowler of the Year of Canada for his accomplishments in the Tournament of the Americas.

Became a Director on the CTF Board in 2004, the first year that CTF became Canada’s official membership organization. He was involved in creating the initial rules, regulations, and bylaws for CTF. He remained a Director for 4 years. Afterwards, he remained active as the Chair of the Nominating Committee, and as a member of the Regulatory Committee.

This year (2012), Dan has accepted an appointment to a CTF Director position, for a
2-year term.

Qualified for Canada’s Adult National Team for 2009 – at that time at age 59, he was the oldest member ever to accomplish.

Dan is a certified Level 2 coach and coaches at many Youth Bowling Camps, Grassroot Clinics and recently assumed the head coach position of the MTF Junior High performance Program.

He has been a member of the Manitoba Tenpin Bowling Coaches Association since 2002, and has been on the Board since 2003, serving as a Director, Vice-President, and currently is the Secretary (since 2006). Recently, he took on the task of learning the new BowlersMap software program, creating a “how to” document for it, and training other coaches to use it.

Dan is a trained Learning Facilitator for the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Introduction to Competition coaching course, delivering this course in Winnipeg and Brandon.

Has been a Director in the Winnipeg Tenpin Bowling Association (formerly, WBA) since 2002. Dan led the project to merge the Men’s and Women’s local bowling associations to form the WTBA, and becoming a Charter Member of the Canadian Tenpin Federation.
Dan has been volunteering in bowling for over 37 years, starting out with League Secretary roles, and then becoming involved with the Boards:
Winnipeg Tenpin Bowling Association (Director);
Manitoba Classic Bowlers Association (Director & Secretary);
Manitoba Tenpin Bowling Coaches Association
(Director, Vice-Pres, Secretary):
Manitoba Tenpin Federation (CTF Representative);
Canadian Tenpin Federation (Director).
When needed, Dan has served in countless capacities
for these boards.

Dan also coordinates the creation of the Manitoba Tenpin Bowling Calendar (since 2003), assists in the annual certification of the Winnipeg bowling centres, and has even taken on the role of webmaster, for the Manitoba/Winnipeg bowling association internet website for the past 5 years.

Starting in approximately 1991, Dan initiated a one-man project to help league secretaries computerize their secretary duties. He spent many hours going to other secretary’s homes to install and set up the league secretary program on their computers, and then training them how to use it. He still provides support to some of these secretaries when the need arises.
