1938
– On February 3rd, Ed set a Canadian record – first man to roll a 300 game in a Canadian tournament, while he was a member of the Beatty Washer Team. (Victoria Lanes)

1940
– December 30th, Ed bowled a 300 game.

1941
– Just short of setting a new city record for three game series (213, 289, 279) 781 in the Senior Men’s League. 26 strikes, 6 spares, 1 split, no errors.

1942
– Mercantile League 207 average for 81 games. Included two 700 Series and thirteen 600 Series, High Single 278, High Three Game Series was 743. On ten nights of league play he shot over 200 on all thirty of his games.

– Ed moved to Burbank, California, where he was hired by Mar-Lin-Do Lanes as a bowling instructor.

Ed passed away January, 1985. During his competitive years, Ed Sobie was one of Winnipeg’s most outstanding bowlers, capturing many tournaments and excelling at the league level. Unfortunately, due to the overwhelming task of locating and reviewing various sources and records only a fraction of his accomplishments have been compiled.
