ELAINE YAMRON
MERITORIOUS SERVICE
Elaine’s involvement with the tenpin game began in 1962 and has continued to increase and expand throughout the years to the present time. Her enthusiasm and great organizational skills have contributed greatly to the associations’ and committees’ numerable projects and tasks.
She has the passion and the commitment to the tenpin game, which has never waned over the passing years. Our tenpin community is so fortunate to have a person who is as dedicated to the sport as Elaine, who has now served the tenpin bowling community for 40 years and counting.

YOUTH BOWLING CONTRIBUTIONS
1971 – 1986
Helped out with Juniors every Saturday at Northgate Bowl.
1982 – 2003
Became a director on the board of the MJBA.
Became president in 1992 until 2003 when the MBA was established.
1986 – present
Helps out with Juniors at Bowl Below.
2006 – present
Works on Chateau staff as Youth Director. Assists in all Chateau run tournaments.
1997 – present
Assists at Odaguchi Senior Scratch Tournaments (6 annually)
Puts together outlines for registration, computer scoresheet program, computer records for scholarship winners.
1992 – present
Manitoba Junior Team manager going with the team to the National site.
Elaine took care of the transportation, hotel, team paperwork , etc.
1982 – present
Runs or helps in all of the annual Junior Tournaments every year. She runs the Junior Provincial Qualifying tournaments to determine the Junior Provincial Team.
Most recently she was the tournament director for CYC tournament held here in Winnipeg where she did a commendable job.

ADULT ASSOCIATIONS CONTRIBUTIONS
1979 – present
Joined the Winnipeg Women’s Bowling Association Board of Directors in 1979 and became President in 1983 and remained the President until its transition to WTBA in 2003.
On the WTBA she was an active board member. Elaine is also the Executive Director of the MBA since 2003.
1999
Was the volunteer chairperson for the 1999 Pan American Games held in Winnipeg.
2000 – present
Has been a director on the MTF board for the past 18 years and elected to be president in 2006. As President she attends many committee meetings and functions affiliated with the MTF.
Was nominated twice for the Volunteer of the Year Award.
2008
Was Tournament Director for the Canadian Tenpin Federation Mixed Championship held in Winnipeg.
Was a volunteer for The Canadian Tenpin National Championship in 2008.
2003 – present
Tournament Director for the Seniors Tournament leading to the USBC tournament. Elaine takes care of all the paperwork for the qualified Senior bowlers.
2003 – present
Tournament director for the MBA annual tournament.
2003 – present
Elaine has been the provincial representative for the MBA attending the Annual General meeting of the CTF for the last five years.
Prior to the formation of the MBA formation Elaine was the delegate to the WIBC annual general meeting.

Chairperson of the CTF Youth Committee.

Director on the WTBA and helps to run the tournaments.
2006 – present
Bingo Chairperson for the last three years and worked for many previous years as a Bingo worker for Tenpin Bowling.

1980 – 1990 Bowled in Northgate Scratch Ladies at Northgate Bowl.
1986 – 1997 Bowled in Tuesday Night Mixed Doubles at CGS Lanes.
1990 – 1993 Bowled in Wednesday night Fun fer All, Laverendrye Lanes
1990 – 2008 Bowled in Gateway Mixed, Bowl Below.
2006 – 2007 Bowled in NHL Flex League, Chateau Lanes.

TOURNAMENTS
1993 –
CTF Mixed Nationals, Ottawa. Won Silver medals in doubles with her daughter Fern Yamron.
1996 –
Won the Bowlers Journal Doubles with Joan Craig.
2001 –
Bowled in Israel at the Macabbi Games and represented Canada.
Received a Bronze medal from the USA women’s team for sportsmanship and congeniality.
2001 –
Sports star of the week by CKY
2005 –
Bowled in the Classified Team event in Calgary.
Present – Has gone to Seniors Tournament in Reno three times.

In addition to her countless contributions to our sport, Elaine and her husband Sheldon have found quality time to raise a family. Her entire family is involved in bowling, daughter Fern and son Nathan. They continue to enjoy the sport and have developed into competitive bowlers themselves.
