George was born on May 8, 1877 in Manchester, England and moved to Winnipeg in 1905. He began bowling in the Stovel House League in 1907.
George joined the Winnipeg Commercial League in 1920 and became one of its Divisional Secretaries in his first year and very soon thereafter took over as Secretary/Treasurer, a position he held until 1950.
In 1922 and in cooperation with the Winnipeg Bowling Association, George was instrumental in the establishment of the Senior Mixed Tenpin league and stayed on as its Secretary until 1945. This league was formed in answer to the increasing number of ladies interested in the sport of tenpin bowling.
In 1928, George became a Director of the Winnipeg Bowling Association and took over as Secretary on November 11, 1934, which was another position he held until 1950. For his contributions and devotion to the sport he was made Honorary Life Member of the Winnipeg Bowling Association.
George was appointed to the Executive Board of Directors of the American Bowling Congress in 1947. He continued to represent the bowlers of his district as an Executive Director of ABC until his passing on May 22, 1950.
