Ats began bowling in 1961 at Empress Lanes.
Ats is an active member on several associations
and leagues:
- Director of Manitoba Junior Bowling Association
- 1st Vice-President of Manitoba Tenpin Federation
- Member of High Performance Development Committee
- Junior Representative on the Manitoba Bowling Council
- Co-Program Director of C.G.S. Junior Bowling Program (1986-97)
- Secretary of Northgate Junior League (1985-86)
- Initiated and was Tournament Director for the Senior Scratch Open
competitions (1984-97).
During her years of involvement in tenpin bowling,
Ats attended coaching clinics, seminars and courses to enhance her
knowledge of the sport and upgrade her coaching credentials and
expertise.
Ats has assisted in conducting Dick Ritger and
NCCP Level II Coaching clinics. Since 1988 she has continued to
conduct grassroots clinics for Manitoba Tenpin Federation, two 20
week High Performance Development Programs and implemented the Junior
Provincial Team Training Program on an annual basis.
Ats has contributed significantly through her
training programs to the development of our Manitoba Youth Bowlers
and has established herself as one of Canada's top junior coaches.
- Coached the Manitoba Junior Provincial Team
at ten National Championships capturing over 130 medals (1984 -
present)
- Coached the Canadian Junior Team at two events winning 20 medals
(1993 - present)
- Coached National Junior Bowling Championship Team competing at
Tampa, Florida - Alison Odaguchi won 1st place (1988)
