The Odaguchi Senior Scratch Open Tournament Rules

1.  All entrants must be CTF members from the Senior (15-21) and Junior Division (12 – 14 years) of the program or age eligible Senior or Junior bowlers who obtain a Tournament Participation card.

2.  All tournament and playing rules of CTF will apply in this tournament.

3.  Tournament shall consist of 4 games of qualifying bowled, moving one pair to the right after each game.

4.  Total pinfall shall determine the top 12 qualifiers for the semi – finals.  The top 12 will bowl three position round games with the top group moving one pair to the the right after each game.  Winner will receive 20 points in addition to pinfalll for a win.  The previous 4 game pinfall will be carried over. In event of a tie(s), the highest game bowled in all the games will break the tie. 

5.  The top five qualifiers shall bowl in a stepladder match play i.e. 5 – 4, winner – 3, winner – 2, winner – 1. The 1st place qualifier must win only one match in order to be tournament champion.  The challenger  of the first place qualifier must win two matches in order to be tournament champion.  In the event of a tie a three frame roll-off shall be bowled.

6.   Tournament shall run in one division – Boys and Girls together. 

7.   Tournament shall run once at  various centres during the bowling season.

8.   Medals shall be awarded for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places following the stepladder in each tournament.  Points shall be awarded for position standing at the end of each tournament, i.e.75 points – 1st place, 60 points – 2nd place, 52 points – 3rd place, 46 points – 4th place, 42 points – 5th place.  The remaining positions shall receive 40, 39, 38, etc.  These points shall be acculmulated from each of the five tournaments.. Plaques shall be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in the finals of the championship and consolation. All award and scholarship fees will be returned 100%.

9.   The finals shall be divided into two divisions of championship and consolation.  The top 12-point winners of the boys and girls shall be in the championship. There shall be a lane draw for the position round in the first game. Thereafter 5  games of position rounds shall be bowled.  After the first game the leader  will move one pair of lanes to the right.   Thereafter the tournament leader will move to the right from this pair.  Total pinfall plus  20 points per win or 10 points for a tie or 0 points for a loss shall determine the top 5.  The top 5 will bowl in a stepladder.  The 1st place qualifier must win  only one match in order to be tournament champion.  The  challenger of the first place qualifier must win two matches in order to be tournament champion.  In the event of  a tie a three frame roll-off shall be bowled.             

9(a)  In the event of a TV coverage, the championship bowlers will bowl 5 games and the top five finishers will bowl in the stepladder.  5 – 4,  winner – 3,  winner  - 1, to determine the final winner. The 1st place qualifier must  win only one match in order to be tournament champion.  The challenger of the first place qualifier must win two matches in order to be tournament champion. In the event of a tie a three-frame roll-off shall be bowled.

10.    In the event of ties for the 12th spot, the highest average attained in this tournament will determine the tiebreaker.

11.    The bowlers not in the top 12-point winners shall bowl on the consolation side. In order to qualify for the consolation side a bowler must have bowled a minimum of three scheduled tournaments.  These bowlers shall bowl 5 games moving one pair to the right after each game. Top 5 will bowl in a stepladder match play… i.e. 5 – 4, winner – 3, - winner – 2, winner – 1. The 1st place qualifier must win only one match in order to be the consolation champion.  The challenger of the first place qualifier must win two matches in order to be the consolation champion.  In the event of a tie a three frame roll-off shall be bowled. 

12.    In the event of a tie for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in the finals, one complete game shall be bowled to break the tie.

13.    Dress code is in effect.  Collared shirts or appropriate sports collarless shirts as seen on the PBA tour  and dress pants or slacks must be worn.  No jeans.  Shorts may be worn during the summer season, however they must be appropriate ( e.g. walking length shorts)  Please use your best judgment.  Dress shorts are recommended.

14.     The high single and high series awards are based on the games bowled in the regular tournaments, not the Championship or Consolation tournament.

This tournament will provide an opportunity for Senior and Junior bowlers to compete against bowlers from other houses.  It should provide excellent training grounds for tournament experience.
