In the early-1990’s, after decades of bowling and many exceptional competition achievements, Lucien Casagrande decided to give back to the sport by sharing his knowledge and experience with Manitoban and Canadian bowlers through coaching.  While serving on the MTF High Performance Committee, hosting seminars for youth and senior adults, he began coaching our MTF provincial teams in mid-1990s.

After a few years of coaching the MTF Provincial Team to CTF Team Trials, Lucien was recognized in 1999 by CTF while serving as Team Manager/Assistant Coach for the Pan American Games that were being held in Winnipeg.  Soon after, he was chosen as Assistant coach under Craig Woodhouse for the next 2 years.

In 2002, Lucien was appointed as CTF Head Coach of the National Women’s Team.  Then, he was chosen in 2005 as the Head Coach of the Men’s Team which he did over the next 9 years, as well as a couple of international tournaments with the National Youth contingent.

Coaching Credentials

  • NCCP Level III Certification      –  1998
  • USA Coaching – Silver Level    –  2003
  • Many Technical Seminars

During his years of National Team coaching, Lucien ran training camps which was difficult to do with athletes from across Canada.  To alleviate this barrier and better serve the bowlers, Lucien designed and developed a manual for long-distance remote coaching for the CTF National Team Contingents.

Lucien served a National coach for over 14 years, coaching at 34 International Competitions in 18 countries, in which our teams captured over 100 medals:
