Sherry’s love of the sport led to her involvement at the local, provincial and national levels. She served on league executives, as well as local, provincial and national association boards, and ran countless tournaments. She was seen as an integral part of the building process when CTF was formed in 2004 and served on many national committees. She was responsible for introducing the CTF Senior Bowler of the Year Awards program and was very involved in the planning and execution of the tenpin event at the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto.
After retiring from her first career as the manager of 9-1-1 with the City of Winnipeg, she started her second career as the Manager of Chateau Lanes – a position she held from 2005 to 2015. She excelled in this role because of her warm personality and her true understanding of what bowlers wanted. She always worked to ensure a quality and enjoyable experience for all bowlers, casual to competitive.
Sherry had many passions in life – golf, CFL football and dogs, to name a few. But there was nothing she loved as much as the sport of tenpin bowling; and the sport and the people loved her back.
Sherry Hobson passed away on May 2, 2016.
